Jesus the Christ appeared and showed himself to be alive for a period of forty days before returning to God the Father.
John 20:15-17
Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?" She, supposing him to be the gardener, said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away." Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned herself, and said to him, "Rhabbouni!" which is to say, "Teacher!" Jesus said to her, "Don’t touch me, for I haven’t yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, `I am ascending to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.`"
Acts 1:3
To these he also showed himself alive after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and spoke about God’s kingdom.

He said to them, "It isn’t for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth."
