With the Presidential races swinging into full gear I would pray that all American Citizens be registered, informed and vote. I will not take sides here, but a couple of things to consider. First, look at the candidates history, I ignore all the campaign posturing and look at the works or fruit of the candidate. Remember, scriptures tell us you will know the tree by its fruit. Secondly, as pessimistic as it sounds, there may not be anything to vote for, but there is always something to vote against. God Bless and be sure to register and pray for guidance before you go vote.
Here is an interesting thesis About the Gospel of St. Luke, it gives some historical and background material about St. Luke and his works. Here is an old and odd story, I truely believe a Monk with too much time on his hands created the History of Joseph the Carpenter, it is interesting and well written. The story about the Death of Pilate is interesting, but it may not be very factual. It is difficult to determine sources at times, the Romans did keep many records and it may be derived from those. A look at Tithing is available with a viewpoint (at least from my web surfing) which may not be considered by many.
There is an interesting study about the birth date of Jesus the Christ, there are also studies about The Real Star of Bethlehem and The Magi.
The American Standard Version Bible of 1901 is also in the Reading Room. One of the newest set of works is the writings of Willam (Bill) Vaught a series of very interesting studies on various topics. An interesting text I came across titled The Narrative of Joseph of Arimathea, a story about what happened to Joseph after the burial and resurrection of Jesus the Christ. Just remember this is only a story and not the inspired word of God.
The Apocryphal (Deuterocanonical) and Pseudepigraphal Books have always fascinated me. Some of these works are no more than folk stories, myths or a complete fabrications. Just remember if it isn't in the Bible it is not considered the inspired Word of God. Creeds, confessions and other interesting writings I have come across are also in the Reading Room.
! Warning !
The prince of lies (I will not capitalize any reference to that vile creature) and his followers are on the web, working hard to lead you away from Christ. As you can imagine I spend a lot of time on the web reading the doctrine being published. Occasionally I will ask about doctrine that doesn't seem to ring true with the Gospels and Scripture in general. I began including this question or a variations of it to the Authors of those doctrines: Was Jesus Christ the Son of God manifested in the flesh and born of a virgin? The responses mostly came back yes with references, a few would answer all the questions except that one and a very few would stop answering any of my questions. The scriptual basis for this question and variations of it is:
2nd John 7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
1st John 2:22-23 Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denies the Father and the Son. Whosoever denies the Son, the same has not the Father: he that acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
If they deny Christ (answer no and none did) they reveal themselves for what they are. Yet, it is not in that liar to acknowledge that our Lord and Saviour lives, so he and his followers remain silent. Be carefull and mindful as you surf the web, there are deceivers out there. For some, they mean well but have been mislead themselves, then there are those who will lead you astray for their own purposes.
May God Bless you with His Love and Grace.
